Illustration & Design

The featured illustration samples are vector-based drawings which have served multiple purposes.

The building illustration – formerly housing the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce – was constructed using Corel Draw software; the illustration was incorporated as part of the chamber’s branding. The black and white line art was the base art applied to signage, decals, and various promotional products.. The actual coin shown – front and back –  was created from the line art shown (middle).

The following illustrations include examples of digital-based illustration created with Corel Draw. On occasion, the artwork will be a combination of vector graphics and photographically retouched art (as shown in the “Bottle art”) to expedite the intended outcome.  The cover art panels are samples of vector illustration and photo composites.  These frames are also featured under publications.

Other designs are often created using composite images, saving on both time and expense, an example of which are the wine label panels.

The portrait illustrations of the girl and the cat are studies utilizing the “painting/drawing” tools in Photoshop.  Painterly effects are achievable and are a practical approach to producing “fine art” without having to rely on the traditional methods.

The benefits of using digital software are too numerous to list, but just having the capabilities to continually apply changes and modifications to the art combined with the immediacy of sending and receiving files, makes customization easy and affordable.

The following illustrations represent traditional “drawing board” examples, often used for spot drawings and executed in pen & ink, pencil and charcoal on paper and artboard.
